Say Hello to Loki

Continuing our recent trend of names based on Norse mythology, Emily landed on the name Loki for our newest ram lamb. The ram we got just a couple of weeks ago was given the name Odin in hopes that he will become the breeding ram on the farm and the “all father” of future lambs. How did we land on Loki for this little guy? We were originally planning to sell or butcher any additional rams this year but couldn’t resist keeping this one once we landed eyes on him. He’s also special to us having been our first lamb born directly on the farm. Since we’re going to keep him, and don’t intend to breed him, he will become a wether ram. In Norse mythology, Loki was known as a shapeshifter. Since this lamb will also be shifting shapes, in the loosest of definitions, we thought the name was fitting. The cleverness runs deep on this farm!
