Notification List & Sale Policy

Below is how the notification list process works if you choose to purchase a KuneKune Pig or Icelandic Sheep from us.

1. Join the List.

  • Join our free, no obligation piglet notification list by filling out the following form.

  • If you are interested in Icelandic Sheep, send us an email with what you are interested in: male/female, registered/unregistered, etc.

Registered pigs include:

  • DNA Testing

  • USDA 840 Microchip or Ear Tag

  • Certified Vet Inspection (if out of state)

  • Vaccinated and dewormed

Registered sheep include:

  • ISBONA registered

  • Vaccinated and dewormed

2. Piglets or lambs are born.

  • Litter Notification is sent to AKKPS within a few days of the piglets being born.

  • Piglets or lambs are evaluated, photos taken, and profiles created on the website.

  • People on the notification list will be contacted via email in the order they joined the list.

  • You have 72 hours to respond to let us know if you want to:

    • Reserve a Piglet or Lamb

    • Remain on the list for future litters

    • Be removed from the list

Please Note: If you do not respond within 72 hours of being emailed, you are removed from the list, and we move on to the next person.

3. Reserve your piglet or lamb.

  • Once you select a piglet or lamb, there is a $100 non-refundable deposit required. The $100 deposit is applied to the final cost of your piglet or lamb.

  • You will be sent a contract that will need to be signed and emailed back to us.

  • We will then tell you next steps for making the $100 deposit. We prefer PayPal Friends & Family but can also invoice via Square.

  • Your piglet's DNA sample is sent to UC Davis. It is then socialized, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and ready for pickup at 8 weeks old. Lambs are typically ready for pickup at 16 weeks of age.

  • If you need transportation or delivery, we can help arrange that. The cost for transportation is the buyer's responsibility. We do allow pickup at our homestead or local delivery up to 50 miles free of charge.

4. Pick up your piglet or lamb.

  • Piglets are weaned at eight weeks, lambs are weaned at sixteen weeks, after they are fully vaccinated and dewormed.

  • The rest of the cost of your piglet or lamb is due on the weaning day or pick-up day.

  • Bring a medium to large dog kennel to transport your piglet or lamb home. We recommend lining it with straw or a blanket. This is for the safety of your animal. Some pigs get car sick and can throw up and all pigs will use the bathroom during the trip, same for lambs. Bring a small water bowl and a gallon jug of water.

  • If you pick up your pig or lamb at our homestead, you will get to meet their parents, see our setup, and go over our care routine. We can also spend time answering any questions.

Please Note: If you cannot pick up your piglet or lamb within one week of weaning, a boarding cost of $5 a day will be required unless agreed upon in advance.

Additional information:
Discounts are available if purchasing multiples pigs or sheep.

All animals sold come with unlimited email/texting, mentorship, and they will always be welcomed back to our home if for whatever reason you are no longer able to take care of them.

IMPORTANT:  Our sheep and pigs come with a fertility guarantee. We stand behind our livestock genetics 100%. As long as good care and good faith attempts have been made at breeding, if they do not produce offspring, we will work with you on replacing or refunding your purchase. For sheep, this would include ewes in their second year with you or rams in their first year. For pigs, this would include gilts that are at least 18 months old and boars at least 12 months old.

Prompt pickup or transport of reserved livestock is compulsory. Sheep are on an annual breeding cycle and pickup typically starts August 1st and ends September 1st. Pigs can be on a spring or fall cycle so dates are fluid.

Some boy pigs or sheep sold as pets or companion animals may be neutered before pickup at no charge to the buyer.

Piglets do not get weened until 8 weeks old. No exceptions.

Pigs require companions and do not thrive on their own. If you are only buying a single pig, you may be asked to provide evidence that you have companions waiting for them when they arrive at your home. We will also work with you on setting up a discount or packaged deal to include a companion.

Any costs for moving sheep out of state, including Certified Vet Inspection (CVI), shall be paid by the buyer unless otherwise agreed upon.
