2023 Hatching Season Has Started!

We are excited to share that 2023 hatching season has officially started for us — a whole 3.5 months earlier than last year! After significantly downsizing our flock throughout the fall and winter — seriously, we sold over 100 birds between August and now — we are looking forward to building it back up with specific breeds and selling some rather unique chicks and colorful eggs throughout 2023.

We are currently incubating a dozen French Black Copper Marans, courtesy of Loveridge Farm in Illinois, that should be hatching at the very end of February. In just a few days, we’ll be receiving our first ever Ayan Cemani hatching eggs alongside a dozen Olive Eggers from Country Haven Farm in Ohio. We’ll end our hatching egg purchases with an additional dozen French Black Copper Maran eggs from Tennessee. What can we say, we love their chocolatey brown eggs and they are key in creating many of the other, unique colors of eggs through crossbreeding.

In addition to the hatching eggs we’ve bought from other farms, we are waiting on our Erminette Ameraucana hens to start laying. Thanks to those girls, as well as our handsome Black Ameraucana rooster, we should be able to offer Erminette chicks later this spring! Lastly, and this is completely new territory for us, we are looking to offer a couple different types of bantams, including Old English BB Reds and Frizzle Mille Fleur d’Uccles!
